  • The NBO Film Fest is seeking two motivated and detail-oriented Production Associates to join our team. In this entry-level role, you will assist with the coordination and execution of various production elements, ensuring that the festival runs smoothly and efficiently. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in film production and event management.

    • Logistics Coordination:

      • Assist in the planning and setup of festival venues, including arranging equipment, seating, and signage.

      • Help coordinate the transportation of materials and supplies to various festival locations.

      • Ensure that all production equipment is properly stored and maintained.

    • On-Site Support:

      • Provide on-site support during screenings, panels, and special events.

      • Assist with the coordination of schedules, ensuring that all events start and run on time.

      • Troubleshoot any production issues that arise and provide solutions promptly.

    • Team Collaboration:

      • Work closely with the Production Manager and other team members to execute production plans.

      • Coordinate with volunteers and temporary staff, providing guidance and support as needed.

      • Assist with the training of new team members and volunteers.

    • Administrative Tasks:

      • Maintain accurate records of production activities, including equipment logs, schedules, and inventory lists.

      • Assist with the preparation and distribution of production schedules and call sheets.

      • Help with any other administrative tasks required to support the production team.

    • High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in film, media, event management, or a related field is a plus.

    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

    • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

    • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

    • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Venue Supervisor (Entry-Level)

  • The NBO Film Fest is seeking two enthusiastic and organised individuals to join our team as Venue Supervisors for two different screening sites. As a Venue Supervisor, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of all festival activities at your assigned screening location. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals with a passion for film, event management, and customer service.

    • Site Management:

      • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the assigned screening site.

      • Ensure the venue is ready for screenings, including setup of seating, signage, and audio-visual equipment.

      • Monitor the venue for cleanliness, safety, and overall readiness before, during, and after screenings.

    • Staff Supervision:

      • Supervise and coordinate the activities of volunteers and temporary staff assigned to your site.

      • Ensure all team members are informed of their roles and responsibilities.

      • Provide guidance and support to staff to maintain a positive and efficient work environment.

    • Technical Support:

      • Liaise with technical teams to ensure that all screenings start on time and run smoothly.

      • Troubleshoot minor technical issues or escalate them to the appropriate personnel.

    • Emergency Response:

      • Be prepared to act in case of emergencies, ensuring the safety of all attendees and staff.

      • Follow all festival protocols for health, safety, and emergency procedures.

    • High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in event management, hospitality, or a related field is a plus.

    • Prior experience in event management, hospitality, or customer service is preferred but not required.

    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Acquisitions Associate (Entry-Level)

Position: Acquisitions Associate
Location: Nairobi, Kenya

  • The NBO Film Fest 2024 is looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Acquisitions Associate to join our team. In this entry-level role, you will assist in the process of selecting and securing films for the festival lineup. This position is ideal for someone with a passion for film and a keen interest in the curation and programming side of the festival circuit.

    • Film Research & Selection:

      • Assist the Acquisitions Manager in researching potential films for inclusion in the festival.

      • Review submissions, screen films, and provide feedback on their suitability for the festival.

      • Help in curating a diverse and compelling lineup that aligns with the festival’s themes and audience interests.

    • Communication & Coordination:

      • Liaise with filmmakers, distributors, and sales agents to acquire necessary materials and secure screening rights.

      • Coordinate with the programming team to ensure that selected films fit into the overall schedule.

      • Assist in drafting and sending out acceptance letters and contracts to filmmakers.

    • Data Management:

      • Maintain accurate records of film submissions, including tracking the status of each submission.

      • Update and manage the acquisitions database, ensuring all information is up-to-date and easily accessible.

      • Assist in organizing and cataloguing promotional materials, such as trailers and stills, for selected films.

    • Logistics & Support:

      • Help coordinate the delivery of film prints and digital files to the festival’s technical team.

      • Assist in organizing and managing Q&A sessions with filmmakers post-screening.

      • Provide support during the festival, ensuring that all acquired films are presented in the best possible format and setting.

    • A passion for film and a strong interest in film curation and programming.

    • Strong research, organizational, and analytical skills.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    • High level of attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

    • Prior experience in film, media, or event management is a plus, but not required.

Festival Volunteer

Volunteers will play an essential role in the success of the festival, assisting with various tasks across different departments. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals passionate about film, eager to gain hands-on experience, and looking to be part of one of Nairobi’s premier cultural events.

    • Guest Services:

      • Greet and assist festival attendees, providing information and directions.

      • Help with ticketing, seating, and managing queues at screening venues.

      • Ensure a welcoming and positive experience for all festival-goers.

    • Event Support:

      • Assist with the setup and breakdown of event spaces, including screening rooms, panel discussions, and special events.

      • Provide logistical support for workshops, Q&A sessions, and other festival activities.

      • Monitor and maintain the cleanliness and organisation of festival venues.

    • Production Assistance:

      • Support the production team with on-site logistics, including handling equipment and coordinating materials.

      • Assist with the transportation and setup of film screening equipment and other technical elements.

      • Help ensure all events run smoothly and on time.

    • Marketing & Promotions:

      • Engage with attendees on social media platforms, sharing live updates and promoting events.

      • Collect and compile feedback from attendees to help improve future festivals.

      • Assist filmmakers, panellists, and special guests with their needs during the festival.

      • Ensure that guests have a seamless and enjoyable experience at the festival.

    • Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to at least four days of volunteering during the festival.
